Accountability

Introduction – Accountability

Accountability is a bottom-line responsibility of a governing board. Many would say it is the most fundamental of board responsibilities, because the board’s purpose is to assure the community that the school district achieves the results the community desires and remains compliant with laws, regulations and policies valued by the community.

The effective board assures three levels of accountability: district accountability, board accountability, and board member accountability.
