Introduction – Strategic Voice
Giving voice to the community’s vision so that district efforts can be given coherent direction, and community values that will guide those efforts, the board communicates, orally and in writing, the community’s hopes and dreams for a desired future.
Although vision and values can improve over time with periodic review and adjustment, they consist of relatively stable, long-term navigational goals rather than what might appear to be a random collection of short-term goals that change from year to year, and enduring values that are strategic in nature.
Advocacy is an important application of strategic voice, different because it is directed outward toward policymakers and the public.
